TEF 2023 timeline
The timetable for the TEF exercise that took place in 2022-23 is set out below.

Publication of Regulatory advice 22: Guidance on the Teaching Excellence Framework 2023. Publication of guidance on student submissions. |

The TEF panel is appointed and membership published. |

February to July 2023 |
The TEF panel carries out the assessments and reaches provisional decisions about the ratings. |

Provisional TEF rating decisions available to individual providers. Communications and branding guidelines published. |

Early September 2023 |
Deadline for providers to make representations about their provisional rating decisions. |
|
Week beginning 18 September 2023 |
Individual providers are informed of their final ratings; or that this decision is ‘pending’ consideration of their representations. |

Ratings last four years, subject to a provider remaining eligible to retain its rating. We expect to publish TEF indicators for providers in England annually. |
