Medical and Dental Students survey - MDS
The Medical and Dental Students survey asks higher education providers in the UK to provide data on the intake of medical and dental students.
This is an annual, UK-wide survey. We are conducting it on behalf of the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England, the Scottish Funding Council, Medr (Wales’s Commission for Tertiary Education and Research) and the Department for the Economy in Northern Ireland.
This document gives guidance for submission of data, and changes and clarifications since last year's survey.

Completed workbooks must be submitted through the OfS portal no later than noon on Tuesday 21 October 2025.
By Monday 10 November 2025:
- all data verification queries must be resolved
- the data should be signed off by the provider’s accountable officer.
