Universities and colleges are working with schools and other organisations to improve the attainment of disadvantaged pupils, and their chances of going on to higher education, a good degree and a graduate-level job. But there is more that they can do, and our regulation will continue to actively encourage this.

This briefing summarises progress in the National Data Skills project to date.

As well as gaining the benefit of studying with an English university or college, in the UK or overseas, international students make an invaluable contribution to our higher education, culture and economy. Though we have data about these students’ numbers and demographics, too little is known about their unique experiences and needs, and the best ways for universities to support them.

We explore how the targets for an additional 75 higher education providers with access and participation plans, together with additional historical student data, affected the ambition and likely progress at a sector level in addressing four of the OfS key performance measures.
