This document provides guidance on the Higher Education Students Early Statistics (HESES) data that providers must return to the OfS if they are registered (or have applied to register) in the Approved (fee cap) category.

The data collected in HESES26 provides an early indication of the number of higher education students studying in 2026-27 and is the main data source that will inform the allocation of OfS funding for 2027-28.
