Monitoring of capital funding
The OfS requires all higher education providers in receipt of capital funding to submit a monitoring return to account for their expenditure for each financial year.

Guidance for higher education providers
This guidance sets out the monitoring information required from higher education providers that received either formula or competitive capital funding during the financial year 2025-26.
The funding was distributed in November 2025. See Capital funding for financial year 2025-26.
- Individual workbooks will be available on the OfS portal from 19 March 2026.
- The deadline for returning monitoring information is 14 April 2026.

This guidance sets out the monitoring information required from all higher education providers that:
- received a payment of formula capital funding in financial year 2024-25, distributed in July 2024
- submitted a successful bid for competitive capital funding for financial years 2022-23 to 2024-25, and received payment towards it in financial year 2024-25.
