Bachelors’ degree classification algorithms
This report sets out lessons learned from our investigations of three higher education providers relating to compliance with our condition of registration B4: Assessment and awards, together with information drawn from other sources. It builds on existing guidance published by the higher education sector. It explains our views on how providers can ensure that the classifications of bachelors’ degrees they award appropriately reflect students’ achievement.
We expect providers to take notice and where necessary adjust their practice, to ensure that the degrees they award retain their value over time. We aim to work with the higher education sector to ensure that bachelors’ degree classification algorithms are firmly linked to actual student achievement.
