The Office for Students (OfS) has launched a consultation on AECC University College’s proposal to change its name to Health Sciences University.
Bournemouth-based AECC University College has recently increased the breadth of its courses in health sciences, including apprenticeships, degrees and research degrees. The university college has stated the new name would better reflect this and its portfolio of clinical and rehabilitation services.
To further expand its offering of courses and research in health science, the university college is in discussions to merge with the University College of Osteopathy, which is based in London. The proposed new name of ‘Health Sciences University’ would apply to the higher education provider resulting from the merger of the two university colleges, should the merger go ahead.
The OfS is keen to hear from students and their representatives, universities, colleges and others on the proposed new name.
The deadline to respond to the consultation is 21 March 2024.
