The Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) has today released measures of how the UK higher education sector is performing.
Commenting on HESA's widening participation performance indicators for 2017-18, Chris Millward, Director for Fair Access and Participation at the Office for Students (OfS), said:
'Today's release points to incremental progress in improving equality of opportunity in higher education. The reforms we have recently announced are intended to secure a step change in the next five years, both through pressure on universities to enhance the plans they submit to us, and support to enable them to work in the most effective ways. We want universities to understand how they are performing using sophisticated measures, looking across different characteristics to understand disadvantage in their own context and targeting their activity and investment so that it really works.'See the performance indicators
