Student representatives – a guide to the Office for Students
This guide is for student representatives – including students’ unions, associations and guilds.
It should help you understand the Office for Students, our role and what this mean for you, your university or college.
In all our work, we aim to act in the interests of students. We want to make sure students are properly protected, they understand how they are protected and what they can do if they have any concerns.
This means we want to work closely with student representatives so that they can help their student communities understand their rights and, if needed, hold their universities and colleges to account.
This guide covers:
- What we do
Our work as a regulator, where we can help and where we can’t - What you can do
Some of the main areas that affect students and what student representatives can do. - Understanding students
How we involve students and how to stay in touch. - Communications toolkit
Resources that student representatives can use for communicating with their student communities.
