Get the HESES data

This page gives data for the Higher Education Students Early Statistics (HESES) survey.

These figures are submitted by individual higher education providers and give an early indication of the number of students studying in each academic year. They include estimates of student activity for the full academic year and are used primarily to inform the allocation of teaching funding for the following academic year.

Summary for the 2022-23 academic year

The figures below were compiled on 7 June 2023 using HESES22 data.

A provider's data is included in the figures if they are registered with the Office for Students in the Approved (fee cap) category and they signed off their HESES22 data by 1 June 2023.

The data does not provide a complete picture of higher education provision in England. Only providers who are registered with the Office for Students in the Approved (fee cap) category are required to return HESES22.
