This page gives data for the Higher Education Students Early Statistics (HESES) survey.
These figures give an early indication of the number of higher education students studying in each academic year. They are used primarily to inform the allocation of teaching funding for the following academic year.
Summary for the 2020-21 academic year
The figures below were compiled on 20 September 2021 using HESES20 data.
A provider’s data is included in the figures if they are registered with the Office for Students in the Approved (fee cap) category and they signed off their HESES20 data by 20 September 2021.
The data does not provide a complete picture of higher education provision in England. Only providers who are registered or have applied to register with the Office for Students in the Approved (fee cap) category are required to return HESES20.
