Who we are looking for
Any current student, prospective student or recent graduate can apply to join our student panel - no matter how or what you are studying. You don't need any previous experience.
We are particularly interested in applications from:
- students at school (aged 16 or older, completing your GCSEs)
- further education students (completing A-levels, BTEC qualifications or doing an apprenticeship), whether this is at a higher education or further education provider
- recent graduates (graduated within the last year)
- international students
- students from black and minority ethnic groups
- students with disabilities
- students from small or specialist providers.
About the role
This is an opportunity to get involved in high profile, high impact work which will make a real difference to students’ lives.
Being on our panel gives you an opportunity to be heard at a national level and develop new skills, confidence and knowledge.
As a student panel member, you will:
- share your experiences
- help shape and challenge our work in higher education
- advise on the OfS’s strategic priorities, policies and projects
- support our student engagement strategy
- take part in opportunities for personal development
- gain transferable skills
- attend conferences and events
- work with high profile decision makers from the higher education sector, including our chief executive, our board members and OfS policy leads.
You'll be expected to attend four meetings a year, and have the option of getting involved in other work based on your interests.
Panel members are paid £1,200 per year. Expenses for travelling to meetings or other OfS-related activities you participate in will be paid.
Panel members are appointed for a year with an option to extend for a second year.
