GOV.UK: Information on eligibility for student finance for students with refugee status
Refugee Support Network
Provides advice and support to young people who face challenges in reaching university due to practical and immigration status-related barriers. They also offer a range of resources for providers and run training sessions on access to higher education for young refugees and asylum seekers.
Article 26
Promotes access to higher education for people who have fled persecution and sought asylum in the UK.
STAR (Student Action for Refugees)
Produced a toolkit for their equal access campaign which aims to get universities to class sanctuary seekers as home students and give them access to bursaries and scholarships open to other vulnerable people.
Universities of Sanctuary
Information and resources to support providers wanting to be recognised as a University of Sanctuary.
Coram Children’s Legal Centre
Promotes and protects the rights of children in the UK and internationally in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The centre can provide legal advice on immigration, asylum and nationality.
UCAS
- has published a good practice briefing for providers outlining the common challenges for refugees and asylum seekers
- provides information and signposting for refugee and asylum-seeking students regarding tuition fees and financial help.
Central England Law School has developed a toolkit to help students with humanitarian protection access home fees and student finance.
We Belong is an organisation led by young people who have migrated to the UK. The organisation aims to ensure that young migrants living in the UK are treated equally and fairly in the society they call home and that barriers preventing full integration are removed.
