Addressing Barriers to Student Success programme

Some groups of students in higher education do not have the same chance as others to succeed in their studies and go on to a graduate-level job or further study.

The Addressing Barriers to Student Success programme aims to change that by helping higher education providers address barriers that affect their students.

The Office for Students is continuing funding for this £7.5 million programme as a key aspect of our work to improve equal opportunities in higher education.

A total of 17 different projects are involved in Addressing Barriers to Student Success, including 59 higher education providers and 28 other organisations such as charities, employers and local enterprise partnerships.

The programme covers a broad range of areas across the student lifecycle including:

  • inclusive and active teaching and learning practices
  • well-being for students
  • progression to postgraduate study
  • graduate employability.
