Monitoring of the Prevent duty: 2016-17 progress report and future development

This report sets out the Office for Students’ findings from the annual reports submitted by higher education providers covering activity relating to the Prevent duty for the 2016-17 academic year.

NB: This publication was updated on 12 July 2018 to correct a typographical error in Table 2b. The figure for 'Number of times the provider has accepted the invitation referred to above' is 18, not 8.

The publication was updated again on 5 September 2018 to correct two further errors. The first was in Figures 2, 3 and 4, and affected the data reported for the West Midlands, East, South West and London regions. The second was in paragraph 93, and related to the numbers of serious Prevent-related incidents and of higher education providers reporting them, and to further potential incidents suggested by media reporting.
